Motor Testing System: The Origin of the Motor Testing System

2021-05-11

The origin of the motor testing system is well known.

The origin of the motor testing system is well known; a motor is a combination of electrical and mechanical elements. To evaluate the performance of a motor, it often requires a comprehensive assessment of many test items. Generally, a motor goes through two stages from research and development to production: type testing (R&D, pilot testing, quality inspection) and production testing (factory testing). Depending on the type of motor and the application industry, it may involve more than ten or even dozens of test items.

Basic components of the testing system

The testing system consists of a test power supply, power switch cabinet, signal sensing devices and power measurement equipment, automated testing measurement units, control operation consoles, AC motor testing software systems, database systems, and other components. The load equipment in type testing can be selected based on user requirements, including companion motors (such as DC generators, AC generators, wound rotor motors), eddy current dynamometers, magnetic powder dynamometers, magnetic powder brakes, and various other devices to meet the type testing needs of different motors.

Measurement method: using microcomputer measurement

The measurement cabinet is equipped with current and voltage sensors, and the intermediate link uses a signal conditioning interface module, with the computer completing the signal acquisition and measurement tasks.

Control method: using automotive-grade MCU for direct control

Using automotive-grade microcontrollers from Siemens, Germany, for interlocking control. The interlocking program can be customized and modified according to user requirements, with stable control system performance and good system scalability.

Operation method: coexistence of manual and automatic operation modes

To avoid the impact of microcomputer failures on testing work, both manual control (panel button operation) and automatic control (computer keyboard/mouse operation) coexist. If automatic control is inconvenient or the microcomputer fails, manual operation can be used for testing.
