It mainly utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction to form torque and power consumption during operation. It mainly consists of an eddy current brake (rotor part, eddy current ring, excitation winding, etc.), force measuring element, speed measuring element, and control system. When the device is in use, it can actually measure the output torque and speed of the tested machine, thereby obtaining the output power. It can replace magnetic powder clutches, hydraulic dynamometers, DC generator sets, etc. The eddy current dynamometer is mainly used to measure the performance of various power machinery such as electric motors, gasoline engines, diesel engines, and gearboxes, and has become essential equipment for type testing, along with other dynamometer devices. Compared with the GW/CW series dynamometers, it has higher reliability, practicality, and stability. The principle of the eddy current dynamometer is that when direct current passes through the excitation coil assembled coaxially with the rotor, the generated magnetic flux forms a closed loop through the eddy current ring, air gap, and rotor. Moreover, since the rotor and the swinging part are made of magnetic materials, the magnetic resistance is very small, so the magnetic flux density mainly depends on the size of the air gap.

  The eddy current dynamometer has uniform teeth and grooves on the outside. When the magnetic induction of the air gap and the inner surface of the armature or the inner surface of the eddy current ring is changed at any point, a magnetic field is generated, inducing eddy current potential, resulting in eddy currents. When the eddy current dynamometer is working, it mainly operates through eddy currents and magnetic fields. A braking torque is generated on the rotor, producing a torque equal to the drag torque on the swinging body. The torque value can be detected by sensors. At this time, you will find that the power output by its engine is converted into equivalent heat generated by the full flow on the swinging body, which is continuously carried away by the cooling water entering the inner surface of the armature or the cooling water ring. Therefore, to ensure the long-term normal operation of the dynamometer and prevent scaling in the cooling chamber from affecting the cooling effect and causing damage to the dynamometer, the purification of the cooling water is important. Its working characteristic is that when measuring the engine speed, the eddy current dynamometer uses a magnetic electric non-contact speed sensor (such as a Hall speed sensor) to convert the measured speed signal into an electrical signal output (with an input voltage of 5V-12V). In torque measurement, tension and pressure sensors can be used.
