How to calibrate the accuracy of a power meter

2022-07-01

When using a power dynamometer for a long time

Ifpower dynamometerlong-term use, testing accuracy is not accurate, how to calibrate the dynamometer accuracy?

Before using a new force gauge, the customer's power dynamometer should be strictly calibrated to ensure measurement accuracy. Additionally, regular corrections are needed during subsequent use. So how to calibrate?

First, check that the secondary instruments (power and torque indicators, etc.) match the force gauge, preheat for about 30 minutes, and zero the gauge so that the torque display shows zero. Install the calibration arm on the dynamometer housing and tighten the fixing bolts. The electric eddy current dynamometer can absorb power in both forward and reverse directions, and both sides need to be calibrated with weights.

For example, (the calibration arms and weights for different power dynamometers are different) the effective length of the designed calibration arm is 973.8mm, at this time placing a 1kg weight on the weight disc corresponds to a display value of 10N, and a 2kg display value of 20N.

Add a standard weight to the weight disc, adding it all at once to about 80% of the full scale, and then perform proportional calibration (refer to the electrical manual) to make the load display value correspond to the weight added. Remove the added weight, and the load gauge should read zero.

Sequentially conduct loading or unloading experiments, making the weight value correspond linearly to the digital display value, and repeatedly adjust until the accuracy is achieved; otherwise, check the mechanical assembly quality of the dynamometer for any sticking issues. Verify if the torque sensor is installed correctly, if the sensor is damaged, and whether wires, cables, water pipes, or oil pipes affect the torque display. If there is a significant lag when adding or removing weights, consider replacing the O-ring of the water inlet swing pipe, or applying some grease to the O-ring or cleaning and replacing the swing bearing. When the testing range of the power dynamometer is small, to improve testing accuracy, corrections can only be made within this testing range.
