Changing the excitation current can alter the load torque, making it suitable for situations with high torque and low speed.
The magnetic powder dynamometer is driven by the tested motor to rotate the brake. After the brake applies the excitation current, its inner and outer stators apply a braking torque to the tested motor through the rotor. At the same time, a slight deflection of the brake will cause the torque sensor to produce a slight strain, which the torque sensor converts into an electrical signal, while the speed sensor converts the speed signal into an electrical signal. The measured values are displayed by the torque display and speed display in the digital torque and speed display, and the output power is shown on the display after conversion by the microcomputer. The magnetic powder dynamometer can be used for load tests, efficiency tests, temperature rise tests, and locked rotor tests.

Before using the magnetic powder dynamometer for testing, install the tested motor. During installation, adjust the lifting steel plate according to the height of the motor, paying attention to coaxiality to avoid deformation of the sensor that could produce additional bending moments. When there is a bending moment, it will not only reduce testing accuracy but may also damage the deformed shaft in some cases. The specific method is: first connect the motor without tightening the motor base, and smoothly rotate the sensor and motor by hand, ensuring there is no slight movement. When rotating, the hand should feel smooth; if coaxiality cannot be achieved, adjust the lifting steel plate until it meets the requirements, then tighten the motor and lifting plate bolts.
